RunPee (One of our favorites) hits 2.0!

Sure, there are apps to help you carefully craft your latest masterpiece, but here’s an app that helps you truly enjoy the efforts of others. Of course I’m speaking of RunPee Mobile, the app that tells you when it’s safe to go to the bathroom while at your local cineplex. No, I’m not kidding, and yes, it’s awesome. Best of all, it’s free (but I would have paid for this one). Simply launch the app before the lights go down, pick the movie your about to watch from a list of current releases, and start the built-in timer when the

mRelease keeps you legal…and covers your ass.

Now here’s an app that falls squarely into the “why the hell didn’t I think of that?” category.

What happens when you’re shooting on location, and you suddenly remember that you left all your blank release forms at home.  Don’t fret.  Thanks to mRelease from being MEdia, you’ll always have four of the most common production releases (appearance, property, location, and crew) right on your iPhone.  Here’s how it works:

Developer Interview: Movie*Slate 2.0

One of our favorite iPhone apps just graduated to the iPad.  Not only is it bigger, and prettier, Movie*Slate 2.0 has added some very impressive, and professional features.  Rather than just list the new bells and whistles, I decided to contact the app’s author, Cliff Joyce of Pureblend Software… and let him list all the bells and whistles. Here’s what Cliff had to say.

Rehearsal is every Actor’s new best friend

If you’ve seen me speak at industry events, then you already know I’m a big fan of Sotto Voce Film+Works’ Rehearsal, an app that gives actors an irrefutable reason to purchase an iPad (or an iPhone). At its core, Rehearsal is a script reading application designed specifically for actors who must memorize lines, or submit voice auditions via email. It works on iPhone, but really shines on iPad, since the screen is so much closer to the size of an actual script page. [UPDATE: Make sure to read the developer’s comment below. He makes some great points about the benefits

Slick New iPhone & iPad Animation Templates

This isn’t the sort of thing we typically cover on HHH, but it’s so darn cool, we couldn’t resist. Ripple Training has just released Screenplay, a set of designer templates for use inside Apple’s Motion and Final Cut Pro for Mac But these aren’t just any templates. No, sir. These awesome creations feature 3D iPhones and iPads that fly around screen in a wide variety of ways, perfect for title sequences and transitions. Just load up the templates, and select the videos you want to display on the animated screens.  Each 3D iPhone and iPad screen can display something different.

NAB ’10 – Gradiest for Cineform First Light

Ever since Stu Maschwitz first published a mock-up of a virtual iPad-based trackball color correction interface, the net has been a buzz.  I’ve received a ton of email, asking when something like this will be available.  Well, it may be sooner than you think! While at NAB, I met with Clinton Torres, a developer who’s nearly finished with Gradiest, his color correction control surface.  He’s designing it for use with Cineform’s First Light.  Once he’s got that up and running, he plans to make his app compatible with other host applications as well (like Apple’s Color). Here’s a sneak peak at his unfinished

NAB ’10 – Vericorder 1st Video

Sure, there were plenty of booths at NAB that cost more than most homes, but this is the product that really caught our eye.  1st Video from Vericorder is an outrageous looking video editor for the iPhone.  It looks and feels totally professional.  The interface is smooth and well thought out.  We’re very excited to put this app to work. Any day now, and will cost under ten smackers! This app is now called Voddio
