We’ve finished our move, and added new features!

Welcome (back) to Hand Held Hollywood. We’ve finished the move to our new servers, and given the site a fresh coat of paint. While most of the tweaks may appear to be cosmetic, we’ve made HUGE changes under the hood which should make updating the site, and adding new features significantly easier. Here’s a quick sampling of some of the changes we’ve already made: We’ve totally replaced the outdated comment system with Livefyre. You can log-in using any social network, and tag your filmmaking friends.  Comments from the old site are currently being ported over, so nothing will be lost.

FDX Reader Gets its LAST major update and goes on sale for limited time

If you’ve been looking for an easy way to read Final Draft FDX files on your iPhone or iPad, now is the time to check out FDX Reader from Quote-Unquote Apps. The app has just received what is likely its last major update (more on that in a second), and has gone on sale, dropping in price from $4.99 to $1.99 (sale ends December 12th). According to the developer, the 1.1.4 update brings performance bumps (especially on the iPhone 4S), fixes a place-saving bug, and includes a new settings bundle to help with troubleshooting. Super 8 for iPhone turns 2! Adds Sharing, Lenses & more

Back in June, when Paramount Pictures unspooled Super 8 (J.J. Abrams’ Spielberg-esque, alien invasion retro-flick), Paramount Digital Entertainment released the Super 8 camera app. Intended to promote the film, the app allowed iPhones owners to capture video, and have it treated with a variety of classic super 8 looks. Users could even string clips together to do some basic editing. Fun and functional! Now, with the release of Super-8 on Blu-Ray, the Super 8 app has received a major update.
