HHH at DV Expo & LAFCPUG Tomorrow!

What’s better than learning about cool new filmmaker stuff for your iPhone and iPad?  Learning about it in person!  And that’s exactly what you can do this Wednesday (Sept 29th) at the DV Expo, being held at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.

If you’d like to come see me yap about the latest and greatest apps and accessories, you’ve got a few options.  Here’s the skinny:

I’ll be a guest speaker on two DV Expo conference session panels:

iPhone and iPad Apps for Production | Part I — Wed, Sept 29th, 11am – 12:00pm
iPhone and iPad Apps for Production | Part I — Wed, Sept 29th, 12:30pm – 1:30pm

You’ll need a conference pass to attend either of those sessions.  The passes aren’t cheap, but they’ll get you into all sorts of excellent presentations on a wide variety of topics, including sessions on DSLR video (another topic near and dear to my heart). You can get all the details on the DV Expo website.

After that, you can find me giving an extended presentation at the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro Users Group, (LAFCPUG) also being held at the Pasadena Convention Center.  The meeting runs from 6pm-8pm, but it’s been known to go longer due to their awesome end-of-meeting raffle.  I’m currently scheduled to go on at 7pm.  You need to be registered for the DV Expo in order to attend the meeting, but you can do that for free by following the instructions on the LAFCPUG website.  You can also find out more about the meeting on their site.

If you attend any of these events, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself.  I always enjoy meeting HHH readers in person.

See you at the Expo!

Shang-Chi Director Directed From His iPhone

I enjoyed reading this brief ScreenRant story, so I thought I’d share it here. It describes how Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, was forced to direct an important scene via his iPhone while in the hospital for the birth of his child! Sadly, it doesn’t divulge the details of that unusual workflow, but it’s an excellent reminder that we’re all toting the world’s most versatile piece of filmmaking gear in our pockets and purses!
